Ukraine-Russia Conflict: Residents and armed personnel in Kyiv take shelter behind a vehicle, see visuals here

Residents and armed personnel in Kyiv covered themselves behind the car as air raid sirens rang in the capital on Saturday morning, see pictures here,Russia has launched a war against Ukraine for three days now.

On Saturday morning, heavy street fighting against Russian troops has been seen in Kyiv and officials urged the citizens to take immediate shelter. Meanwhile, Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky rejected the US government’s request to evacuate the capital city Kyiv because it comes under a Russian attack.

According to a senior US intelligence official, when the US government asked to evacuate the capital city, the Ukraine President turned down the offer and said “I want weapons to fight.”

“The fight is here; I need ammunition, not a ride,” Mr. Zelensky said according to reports. The Ukraine President on Saturday released a video clip in which he said he will not leave the country.

Dmitry Rogozin, director-general of Russian space agency Roscosmos tweeted, “In response to EU sanctions against our enterprises, Roskosmos is suspending cooperation with European partners in organizing space launches from the Kourou cosmodrome and withdrawing its technical personnel, including the consolidated launch crew, from French Guiana.”

On Friday, EU states agreed to freeze any European assets of Russian President Vladimir Putin and his foreign minister as Ukraine’s leader pleaded for faster and more forceful sanctions to punish Russia’s invasion of his country.

The move against Putin and his top diplomat, Sergei Lavrov, came as envoys of the EU’s 27 member states agreed on a new wave of measures – their second this week – to hit Russia’s elite and thwart operations of 70 per cent of the country’s banking system.

Earlier on Friday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy urged Europe to act more quickly and forcefully in imposing sanctions on Moscow, accusing western allies of politicking as Moscow’s forces advanced on Kyiv.Amid the ongoing Ukraine-Russia crisis, the Indian Embassy Kiev advised Indian citizens against moving to any of the border checkpoints without prior coordination with government officials at border posts.
